Courvoisier XO Cognac is the extra-old flagship of the house founded in Jarnac in 1828, the cognac that supplied Napoleon III's court and still wears his silhouette on the label. It blends eaux-de-vie from Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne and Borderies aged from eleven to twenty-five years, well beyond the XO minimum, and is bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof).

The nose is candied orange, crème brûlée and iris flower with hints of oak. The palate is rich and silky, with dried fruit, dark chocolate, vanilla and gentle spice from the long aging, and the finish is long, warm and elegant. It is a cognac for sipping neat after dinner, and a luxurious base for a top-shelf Sazerac or Sidecar.
